I was surprised to hear of a Superman game coming out for the N64 this soon. I expect to see many more superhero games follow especially if Superman: The Animated Series delivers what it's anticipated to offer. The screenshots shown here show the polished look of the game, it reminds me of a 3dfx enhanced version of a computer game. The textures are very smooth without being overdone and giving it the typical N64 blurred look.

The animation and character designs are based on the cartoon rather than the comic book or the movies. So a cartoony feel to the game would be understandable. Also almost every character that has starred in the animated series is planning on being included in the N64 version. Titus says that Superman: The Animated Series will offer a lot of freedom that isn't included in most super hero games of the past. This is definitely true while in flight, Superman will be able to fly all over metropolis and even into some buildings to do battle with the bad guys. I've also read that villains will be able to pick up cars or objects and throw them at Superman while in battle, sounds very cool.

Supposedly there are about twenty levels so far, ranging from Braniac's space station to the newsroom in the Daily Planet. Not all levels will be just fighting though, some will put Superman's detective skills to the test or even make him rescue civilians from a burning building.

Superman is also rumored to have a two player battle mode typical of a 3d fighting genre. You'll be able to pit Superman against any one of Metropolis' evil villains, including Lex Luthor, Bizarro, Metallo, Brainiac, Lobo, the Toyman, etc... Also to be featured are Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, and even Clark Kent.

All in all at 85% complete Superman: The Animated Series sounds to be a very good game with a ton of variety to keep superhero fans busy for a long time. We'll keep you posted with any updates.
